Traditional vs Online

"Do you think traditional or online schooling is better and why?"

Traditional schooling is still superior to its online counterpart. Many that are in school love to use the internet in their spare time, and when it’s before them, it becomes hard to concentrate on what they need to; it is too strong a temptation when bored. Also, it becomes hard to understand certain phrases and diction when it is only text; body language is an important tool in learning that is often lost in online instruction.
Personally, I cannot concentrate in traditional courses when my laptop is connected to the internet. Especially in classes that I am taking only because it’s needed to graduate. The closest I have taken to an online course are computer courses in traditional schooling setting, and each time the internet has proven to be a distraction. When I bring my laptop to other courses, I have to close it in order to truly pay attention even during important lessons.
However, there are several courses I both want to take and will likely have to take in the near future that are only available online. I also have to consider the lack of availability of being able to travel to-and-from home and campus, and so the necessity of online courses is becoming more-and-more likely. Considering how I am in a traditional setting, it will likely prove to be a challenge.
In the end, it all depends on the students’ self-control. It is far too easy to become distracted by the internet when it’s available, even when in a serious lecture. Yet, it’s becoming increasingly important to take them even at local colleges, so the student will need to learn control in order to succeed.
